What Do I Want to Light Up?

Different circumstances call for different lighting.

Floodlights
Access points to your building, such as windows and doors, should be brightly lit so that it is easy to see someone standing there. Floodlights work well here.

Floodlights can also cause glare. For example, if you have boundaries or fences around your business and want to make it hard for people to see into the property, use floodlights.

However, floodlights are so bright that they can be disruptive to neighbors and pose a traffic hazard.

Street Lights
If you have a wide open space to light up, such as a parking lot, consider street lights. They are good at casting a diffused, low-intensity light evenly over an area.
