Reduce Your Risk
Some things you can d o to reduce the risk of cash deposit robbery:
- Make sure that your couriers vary their routes to the bank -- the less routine there is in the transfer process, the more difficult it is for a robber to plan his act.
- Make deposits irregularly and avoid routine. This makes it harder for a robber to plan and commit a robbery.
- Make deposits during the day -- do not wait until the end of the business day to deposit the cash. After closing few people will be around to prevent the attack.
- Do not let the cash wait overnight in the building -- this will increase your losses if your business is burglarized at night, and your courier in the morning risks robbery because potential offenders might think she is carrying a whole day's worth of receipts.
- Use armored car services. If you have large amounts of cash, you should probably use an armored car service to transfer it to the bank. However if the amounts are small, this may not be cost efficient.
- Encourage credit card use by the customers. Some offenders may think you won't have so much cash around, and if you are robbed, you will lose less money.
