Warn the robber that he or she is being watched

Robbers are less likely to attack if there is a radio connection with a dispatcher or police.

Some drivers may pretend to have a radio connection - after they pick up the customer, they simply take the radio receiver and report their destination, even though the line is dead. The customer, however, will not know that. This is an easy way to make the customer aware of the radio connection, whether it be real or fake.

Many taxis have small cameras that record customers throughout the ride. Unless if the customers are warned that they are being filmed, this is unlikely to prevent the robbery, but may help catch the offender. Putting up a sign that a video camera is filming the customer throughout the ride may prevent robbery.
