Preventing the Delivery of Less of the Product

To stop deliverymen from delivering less of the product than you will end up paying for, try this:

Removal of product from boxes

  • Open and check all of the boxes, if time permits. At the very least, check some at random during every delivery. It is important that you do not have a pattern (like always checking the box at the top or the bottom).
  • Make sure to check even factory sealed boxes. Experienced thieves can open the boxes, remove merchandise, and reseal the boxes to look as if they were never opened.

Fewer boxes delivered than specified on invoice

  • Hold on to the invoice and check it against the count of the boxes and merchandise.
  • Take your time when doing this count.

Smaller or lighter items delivered than specified on invoice

  • Check the weights and sizes of prepackaged products to make sure they match specifications on the invoice.
  • Weigh products that are sold by the pound (such as fruits, vegetables, and meat).
