Another way deliverymen steal is to remove merchandise and take it back to the truck after it has been counted and checked by the receiver. This theft is easy if the deliveryman is left alone after the count is made and the invoice signed. It is a simple matter to return part of the merchandise to the delivery truck.

This type of theft is much easier to do when merchandise is received next to the truck than if done in the storage area of the store. In a typical scenario, the deliveryman simply puts a box or a case of goods back into the truck, and delivers the rest to the store. If the receiver makes the count inside the store, the deliveryman may pretend to be taking out empty boxes and packaging, but instead he actually takes some of the merchandise back.
